Road Trip To-do List

So far on this ample list, we’ve got several tremendous projects to take on. First of all, we need to find a way to save at least $160 a week each. Secondly, we need to learn the skills needed to complete this conversion, which we could probably learn from our handy fathers. Then, we need to find and buy a working and affordable bus, preferably an intercity bus since we’ve learned that since intra city buses are made for constant stops, they usually aren’t any good on long trips because of the low gearing. As for school buses, we’ll take them, but we’d prefer a higher quality. (getting a bit technical there) Anyways, we will then need to the collect supplies we don’t yet have to convert it, but this doesn’t have to be done all at once. Next, we’ll need to start the conversion. That is the monster standing in our way. Lastly, we get to make sure everything is in working order, then we can set off!

On our extensive list of destinations and fun seeking activities, we’ve got some ambitious ideas. We wish to embrace the ocean and surf, sail board, kayak, build sand castles, fly kites, collect shells, find a boardwalk, and find nice secluded beaches with hidden secrets. In the mountainous areas, the wild beckons us. While in this seductive area, we yearn to simply climb, hand over hand and foot over foot, the majestic queens who tower high above. We yearn to gaze down into valleys alongside this royalty and humble ourselves with yoga and simple foods. In the wild north, we want to get down in the snow and snowboard, ice skate, let Andy see some seriously deep snow(she has only ever seen light dustings), snowshoe, have a snowball war, build a snow man army and fort, sled, ride a snowmobile, make snow angels, eat snow, and maybe just take a walk. We have many more ambitions, far too many for one measly post. Mostly though, we want to meet new people (and possibly make friends), and simply experience life. Oh! And buy fuzzy sweaters. Lots and lots of fuzzy sweaters.

Wish us luck! Oh, and if you have any ideas for us, just let us know. We’re up for many things. Buh bye for now!

The Word Nerd Road Trip: Phase One of an Idea Apocalypse

This post may seem to some of you like an episode of How I Met Your Mother… I’m going to tell you a story.

It all started when Ami and I were texting on a Saturday. Neither of us was busy, and I think we were talking about how gorgeous libraries can be, with so many old books, many of them still in pristine condition. Eventually it got to the point that we were talking about visiting them and how fun that’d be. I suggested a road trip and the idea immediately caught on.

We started scheming and planning and listing things we’d like to do on the proposed highway excursion. The list grew with the addition of a quest for an antique typewriter, picking through thrift stores across the country, and experiencing the United States’ many attractions. We decided this was going to be a hefty trip, so we allowed ourselves a hefty time period: we gave ourselves three years to prepare and a year to go on the trip.

We started a list. It wasn’t enough. We began to fill a composition book with our ideas and the destinations we plan to visit. We wrote all the things we’d like to do and see and sure enough, we continue to find things we want to do. So far, all we’ve got is plans, but after hard work and three years of penny-pinching, we hope to see the best of our country.

So that’s our story. Just two girls and a conversation. Funny, how a simple idea could spawn into something so real.

That’s all for now, my bunny dumplings of internetopia.

A Trip, an Experience, and a Story

The Road Trip Girls come in two flavors: Amelia and Andy. The former is an eternally optimistic blonde, the latter a borderline pessimistic brunette. (possibly more flavors to come) Anyways, we are two insane (because of our ideas) lassies with great appetites for life.  Not only do we ask why, we ask why not. We have insane philosophies. So, when our friend Angel proposed that the idea of glow in the dark water tag would be incredibly fun as a joke, I asked why it had to be just a joke. Everything skyrocketed from that point on. We’ll elaborate later.
Now, we plan to travel the rim of the United States and possibly southern Canada during the summer or 2016 until the summer of 2017. The original plan was to  find unique typewriters, buy interesting and aged books, and discover the best writing utensils. We just couldn’t stop there, so we expanded. We are going to enjoy life and experience it to its fullest while we can, while we’re young. We plan to convert a bus into a home that we can use during the trip .It also ends up being more affordable than finding a place to stay. Besides, we’ll get all the best views.  Why shouldn’t we experience life while we can? I’d choose this over a typical, linear life anyday.
I must say farewell for now, but I promise I will provide more information tomorrow.

Of the Universe,
Ami

The Beginning of an Idea

Hello there, internetians. My name is Andy, and I have a giggly blonde accomplice named Amelia. We’re two chicks that love talking about some weird stuff… Travel, eloquent words, great books, and the ways of the universe are some of our favorites. We always come up with left-field-borderline-insane-but-still-really-awesome ideas, and that’s what this blog is for. We wanted to share some of our best ideas with you.

It all started when we came up with the idea for this thing we ended up callingDark in the Park”, that was spawned from a variant of something Ami did after homecoming with our friends Angel, Mason, Kodi, and Jack. But we’ll elaborate on that later.

Our idea-journey continued with a proposed road trip. This one has caught on extremely well and we plan to be on the road exploring the better parts of the United States and southern Canada During the Summer of 2016 through the early Summer of 2017. Yes, we’re planning to take a yearlong road trip across the country, but for what? Ami and I both being certifiable logophiles (word-lovers), the purpose of the trip is mainly to explore beautiful libraries, scout out bookstores that have some good reads, and possibly buy a small collection of rare books.

Along the way, we plan to have some mini-adventures through certain small goals we made for the duration of the trip. Among these goals are: Doing one physical activity a day (biking, hiking, surfing, yoga, running, etc.); finding a perfect old typewriter for personal use; buying fuzzy sweaters and shopping at thrift stores; acquiring antique furniture; learning new things and experiencing things that we can’t experience otherwise; and finding new and interesting foods to taste and cook.

More to come in this blog is the tale of the formation of our ideas, progress on the trip, some of the details of our trip plans, and some of our other new ideas. We’ll try to keep you guys updated on what we have brewing in our fuzzy little craniums, so please read and share our blog!

Goodbye, my rooty orange tubers!
Love, Andy.
